Cartwheels and Handstands

Posted on Posted in Uncategorized

Happy Monday to you all,

This week I am talking about handstands and cartwheels, the good, the bad and the ugly.

We often get asked by our wonderful parents why their child is having trouble doing their cartwheel when they can handstand very easily. The true is sometimes we can have children nearly doing backflips before they can cartwheel.

Cartwheels are very hard for children to coordinate as their arms and legs are moving at the same time, they have to remember to place their hands in the right place, kick over in a sideways direction and get their foot back on the ground, all in a relatively straight line. If you think of a handstand this is in a forwards direction so a lot less to think about.

So if you are a little worried about why your little one cannot cartwheel do not worry this will come in good time,

I thought I would show you my cartwheel, many years as a gymnast i still have it (hahahah) and in high heels yay!!

Have an awesome week

Katie
